The Assistant Director of Stewardship reports directly to the Sr. Director of Development and Alumni Engagement and supports Nursing’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) in its mission to elevate the reputation and global brand of Penn Nursing, inform and engage key stakeholders, develop and maintain meaningful, long-lasting relationships, and secure resources to expand the impact of Penn Nursing in communities around the world. Under the guidance and direction of the Sr. Director of Development and Alumni Engagement, the Assistant Director will coordinate and conduct reporting on undergraduate and graduate scholarships, term and endowed chairs, and other special gifts. They will provide support with stewarding individual major gifts level donor prospects/donors by composing complex, varied, and personalized materials with an emphasis on illustrating impact to donors and/or soliciting funds. The Assistant Director will write briefing documents, funding proposals, and other materials as needed in support of these efforts and will maintain records of their outreach and engagement activity in University databases.
The tasks performed by this position are critical and require great attention to detail, ability to manage and report on multiple tasks, capable writing, editing, and communications skills as well as a professional and personable manner.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities
Create annual stewardship reports and/or progress reports that illustrate donor impact, including chair holder, scholarship, and special gift reports. Generate correspondence, and other writing assignments in support of Penn Nursing’s Development and Alumni Relations goals. Provide key support for the creation of DAR-related communications and stewardship projects, e.g. donor recognition for campaigns.
Working with Sr. Director, create strategies to steward existing and long-term donors to ensure they remain valued members of the Nursing community. This should encompass individual stewardship plans for a select group of VIP donors and the overall management of major donors stewardship for Nursing.
Assist with the gift acknowledgement process, including creating template letters, writing personal letters for the Dean, and attending pipeline meetings to ensure all gifts and pledges to the School are recognized and tracked in a timely manner.
Collaborate with other members of the DAR team to support stewardship projects such as the Nursing Legacy Circle and Cedar Society.
Write 1-2 Nursing magazine articles on alumni and/or philanthropic impact stories per biannual publication.
Produce and/or assist with the development and editing of solicitation proposals.
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
