The Assistant Director of Student Success will be responsible for alumni engagement, working with advancement and main campus graduate school alumni. This includes, but is not limited to communication with alumni, tracking and monitoring alumni career placement post-graduation, planning implementing alumni events, maintaining alumni database, and analysis alumni data to be strategically used for TBMH recruitment, website, and VT Graduate school and FHS reporting.
Responsibilities include submission and verification of student milestones such as Plans of Study, Qualifying Preliminary Exams, and Dissertations Defense; Schedule of Classes, Classrooms, and Remote Learning set up; Administrating Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Banner, Zoom, etc; Purchasing and processing of supplies, orders, and reimbursements; and supporting TBMH teaching faculty with grade calculations, grade entries, blinding evaluations, and evaluations surveys.
The Assistant Director of Student Success will also work in partnership with the TBMH Coordinator of Recruitment and Finance to organize and run various recruitment and social events. The Assistant Director of Student Success will also be responsible for facilitating the logistics placement of students in labs, understanding and educating others about the regulations and requirements for individual academic programs. They will also work closely with the program Associate Director and Director to contribute to curriculum and daily operations of the program. The Assistant Director of Student Success will support retention and student success programmatically by focusing on effective cross-functional and cross-departmental relationships.
This position will be required to learn processes, support services and networks to provide exceptional service to international students, serve as a point of contact for various VT programs/offices related questions and information (e.g. Human Resources, Disability Services, Cranwell Center, Dean of Students, Inclusive VT etc.), create and provide a programming calendar each semester and have a strong desire to advance the growth and diversity of the program, and support community building.
