About the Opportunity
The Assistant Director – Supplemental Academic Services (SAS) is part of a team that provides supplemental academic support to students within CPS and, on a contractual basis, across other colleges at Northeastern University. Under the direction of the CPS SAS Director, the Assistant Director facilitates the daily operations of the International Tutoring Center (ITC) and supplemental writing supports by managing tutors/specialists, scheduling tutorial appointments, providing administrative oversight, setting and achieving goals, maintaining accurate records, and acting as a liaison between all tutors/specialists, ITC, SAS, and students, faculty, and staff. The Assistant Director supports student escalations and challenges as needed. The Assistant Director provides analysis, as needed, of student skills and supplemental academic services that can support needs. The Assistant Director manages the ITC space, supports monitoring and evaluation processes, and maintains a neat and orderly environment. The Assistant Director prepares and revises materials, such as program guides, handouts, and online communications including email, the ITC website, and supplemental writing materials. Additionally, the Assistant Director actively reaches out to and collaborates closely with instructors, other departments, and colleges to ensure a coordinated approach to student success. The Assistant Director participates in the development, planning, and implementation of various supplemental academic supports, resources, writing support and ITC programming. Additionally, the Assistant Director participates in projects such as coordinating workshops and class visit presentations, developing special events, or representing the ITC at student resource events. The Assistant Director takes proactive steps to improve communication to, and between, students, tutors, and staff and takes an active role in enhancing the existing systems and reporting mechanisms to better serve students. The Assistant Director serves as students’ advocate and liaison to internal and external constituencies and as an agent for change necessary to promote success for international students, while maintaining the mission of CPS SAS and Northeastern.
