The Due Diligence team is responsible for vetting all potential private sector partners to UNHCR (corporate, foundaitons, and HNWI) and for facilitating the review and approval of partnership models, in accordance with the organizatioon’s policy on Private Sector Due Diligence.
Reporting to the team lead, the Assistant Due Diligence Officer will act as the MENA regional focal point for conducting screening research and analysis for the UNHCR’s Private Sector Partnership network related to the delivery of partnerships with corporations, foundations/trusts, and HNWIs.
The candidate will also assist in supporting all other markets covered by the Due Diligence unit and perform other administrative tasks as required.
Purpose and Scope of Assignment:
- Proactively support MENA markets on due diligence related matters and colleagues engaging with the Private Sector in the region.
- Perform research based on the publicly available information in order to contribute to the Due Diligence screeningreports for potential UNHCR Private Sector Partners (Corporations, Foundations/Trusts, HNWI)
- Screening reports should be filled out in a standard screening report form and shared with screening officers forreview and final recommendation
- UNHCR Screening Criteria and additional ethical considerations must be incorporated into screening research tosupport analysis and contribute to the comprehensive screening recommendation
- Submit requested research in a timely manner, proactively maintain regular communication with supervisor and other team members.
- Keep abreast of relevant business, economics, legislative, regulatory, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) developments and trends in key UNHCR markets for PSP engagement.
- Perform other related research as required by the DD unit, with a focus on reputational risk.
- Ensure highest standards of accuracy and detail in reports.
- Build trusted, effective relationships with colleagues in the PSP network, Division of External Relations, bureaux, and field colleagues.
- Support induction, training, and any other requested assistance to colleagues.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education:
- University degree in Social Sciences, Political Sciences, International Relations, Economics, Business Administration/Management, or other relevant field.
- 1 year of relevant experience with Undergraduate degree; or no experience with Graduate degree.
- Previous work experience in a non-for-profit organization and/or in a global private sector company is required. Due Diligence/Corporate Social Responsibility academic or professional experience is an asset.
