We are looking for a proactive and energetic Assistant Editor with a passion for commercial publishing, excellent administrative skills and some in-house experience to join the editorial department of Century Fiction to work across a range of their bestselling titles and authors.About the roleReporting to publisher Selina Walker you will work across a list of bestselling authors including Lisa Jewell, Harlan Coben, Anthony Horowitz and Katie Fforde, shepherding titles through the editorial process to publication, and liaising directly with authors as well as members of other departments within Cornerstone on a day to day basis.You will read and evaluate manuscript submissions, and manage the internal book process, including title scheduling, writing jacket and cover copy, reporting sales to authors and agents, and liaising with other in-house departments, including managing editorial, production, design, sales, marketing and publicity. You will provide creative support for books and authors, and you will be responsible for driving selected authors’ back-catalogue sales. You will be an integral part of each author’s brand team, working closely with colleagues on a varied year-round programme of publishing.You will also provide day-to-day admin support to Selina, managing her diary, processing invoices and expenses, minute-taking in meetings, and keeping internal systems up to date.About CenturyCentury is the home of the best in brand and genre fiction, known for our industry-leading event publications. A can-do, enthusiastic attitude is essential, along with an ability to work well independently and under pressure, multi-task and organise yourself effectively. You will be working on a range of different titles at all different stages of the publishing process, providing excellent author care, keeping projects to deadlines and communicating with teams across different departments.You’ll have experience with office administration and be confident completing these tasks, but also have knowledge of the publishing process and an eagerness and interest to work on the books Century publishes. Perhaps you’ve worked as a Publishing Assistant, or had experience in Sales, Marketing, Contracts or Rights within a Publishing setting?
