For more than 165 years we have been providing practical and compassionate support to people across Victoria whose daily struggles can include putting food on the table, paying essential utilities and ensuring their children remain at school to obtain an education.
Under our Good Works umbrella we have many services and programs, including soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), which assists some of Victoria’s most vulnerable communities, such as people experiencing homelessness, the housing crisis and family violence, and the elderly.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Finance Business Partner (FBP) – Corporate and Membership, this is a unique opportunity to partner with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely completion of month-end tasks, support conference members (volunteers supporting the community), and provide support across all aspects of management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial planning, and analysis.
As the Assistant Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for supporting the FBP to:
- Prepare monthly reporting with detailed analytics and commentary on the performance of the business with trend analysis to support good operational management decisions making and to improve the efficiency of operations,
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations of all related accounts,
- Assist conference members in their day-to-day operations through answering queries and providing analysis as required,
- Oversee assigned business areas,
- Prepare annual operating and capital budgets/forecasts for the portfolio through provision of detailed analysis and commentary with the assistance of the FBP,
- Take a lead on ongoing continuous improvement of all processes to increase efficiency and data integrity.
About you:
You are a diligent individual with experience in a client-focused environment and understanding of the importance of delivering accurate and timely management accounts for the portfolio including compliance to the general accepted accounting principles, applicable accounting standards, agreements and corporate procedures and policies.
You are enthusiastic, highly organised, detail orientated and driven by a commitment to continuous improvement. You will bring a “hands on” approach and be a proactive operator who thrives on great outcomes for your key stakeholders.
More specifically you will have:
- Accounting or Business-related degree (essential),
- CA/CPA or studying towards CA/CPA or equivalent,
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the business,
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse information and solve problems,
- High level of general computer literacy particularly with MS Office suite of products,
- Knowledge and experience in management accounting, budgeting and forecasting,
- Administration of and strong experience with large/medium financial ERP systems,
- Working knowledge of relevant accounting standards,
- Ability to proactively manage workload, organise multiple priorities and consistently meet deadline.
