Summary of Job Duties:

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Writing (tenure track) to begin in August of 2024. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is a metropolitan research university that provides an accessible, high-quality education to a community of diverse learners. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • PhD in Rhetoric and Writing Studies, Composition, Technical Communication, English, and other appropriate disciplines; other terminal degrees considered. ABD considered.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Experience in various forms and theories of nonfiction or technical/professional communication to teach in the BA and MA concentrations; 
  • Interest in working in cross-disciplinary settings; 
  • Experience teaching in multiple modalities
  • Record of effectiveness as a teacher; and
  • Existing scholarly record and/or clear scholarly trajectory in Rhetoric and Writing Studies, broadly defined.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in Composition, Rhetoric, Technical Writing, and/or Nonfiction that may be offered in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and weekend formats
  • Provide service on departmental, college, and university committees as well as service in the community and to the discipline;
  • Produce and disseminate scholarly and creative works
  • Other duties assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Teaching experience in a college setting;
  • Ability to teach a variety of courses in traditional and online formats;
  • Desire to engage in professional service activities in the community.
