The Department of Anthropology is seeking an outstanding candidate for tenure-track Assistant Professor/ tenured Associate Professor specializing in sociocultural anthropology with geographical focus in Asia and the Pacific or transnational processes involving these areas.

Applicants should:
(i)    have a PhD degree in anthropology;
(ii)    have ability to teach, secure grants, and publish in English; and
(iii)    have outstanding record of research and teaching for Associate Professors.

Ability to supervise postgraduate theses written in Chinese will be an advantage, but is not essential. The appointee will be responsible for (a) teaching; (b) research; and (c) assisting in the promotion of the Department’s postgraduate programmes and some administrative duties.

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. For Assistant Professor, appointment will normally be made on contract basis for three years initially commencing in August 2025 or earlier, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.
