University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position of an assistant professor at the Department of Social Communication and Journalism of the Institute of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences

The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

 

Requirements

  • Holding at least the degree of doctor (Ph.D.) in social sciences in the discipline of political science and administration. Preference will be granted to achievements in the field of political science and administration corresponding to the fields of research carried out in the unit concerned.
  • Documented significant and original scientific work in the field of political science and administration, in which the candidate is an author or co-author, including publications in listed journals and reviewed proceedings of conferences, as well as publications by publishing houses included in the lists of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Education and Science, concerning in particular social communication, political communication, media systems, mass and social media, public relations and marketing, methodology of empirical research related to modern media.
  • Knowledge of English at the level allowing for holding classes in this language, documented by a relevant language certificate or experience in international cooperation, performing a function requiring knowledge of English or confirmed experience in holding classes in English.
  • Knowledge of Polish in speech and writing at the level which allows teaching.
  • Experience in raising funds for conducting scientific activities or participation in research projects, as a principal investigator or participant/investigator.
  • Cooperation with foreign and national scientific and research centres.
  • Active participation in scientific life, manifested in particular in speeches at national and international conferences.
  • Experience in organisational work for universities.
  • Experience in implementation of social projects in cooperation with public administration and non-governmental organisations.
  • Clear plans for conducting research and for scientific development in the discipline of political science and administration consistent with evaluation criteria.

    Responsibilities

  • Holding classes and performing organisational tasks associated with implementation and organisation of the teaching process in the material scope and time as provided for a post-doc position in accordance with the currently binding internal regulations of the University of Wrocław.
  • Performing other tasks and activities related to implementation and organisation of the teaching process as indicated by the Director of the Institute of Political Science of the University of Wrocław.
  • Conducting scientific research in the field of political science and administration, including applying for internal, national and international grants, in accordance with the criteria established by the respective Council of the Discipline.
  • Publication of results of the scientific research with affiliation “University of Wrocław” and their diligent documentation through the Faculty’s Library.
  • Active participation in scientific and publishing activities of the Institute, as well as organising such activities.
  • Compliance with provisions on copyright and related rights in teaching, scientific and creative activities.

  • A photocopy of the diploma certifying obtaining the degree of Ph.D.
  • Declaration whether, in the event of obtaining the position, the University of Wrocław will be the candidate’s primary place of work (download Workplace Statement ).
  • Declaration concerning the discipline concerned in the candidate’s research and for candidates specialising in more than one discipline: percentage shares of involvement in each discipline (download Declaration of scientific discipline ).
  • Summary of professional achievements confirming clearly that the candidate meets the listed requirements, describing separately the criteria concerning scientific activity, internationalisation, organisational involvement and teaching.
  • List of the candidate’s publications for a period not longer than 10 years.
  • Electronic version of two most important publications which the candidate considers to be representative of their scientific achievements or an explanation for their absence, provided that the Chairman of the Commission may expect submission of all or selected scientific publications or other documents.
  • Two recommendation letters, reserving that those letters should be sent by e-mail to the Commission Chairman at: [email protected]  directly, not via the candidate and they are disclosed to the Commission members only, while by applying within the call, the candidate waives a right to read these letters.
  • Application to the Rector of the University of Wrocław.
  • A statement in connection with Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018. The Law on Higher Education and Science (download Declaration – Article 113 ).
