The European Institute is a world-leading and multidisciplinary centre of excellence for research and teaching on contemporary Europe in a global context. The department offers degrees at a post-graduate level; its faculty are active researchers, and teaching is research-led.
The department is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in European Politics and Policy. The successful candidate will have expertise and research interests in any field of European politics and policy-making, including comparative politics, international relations, or public policy and will contribute to the MSc in European and International Public Policy and its associated Double Degree programmes. As part of a wider intellectual agenda in our politics and policy group, a research specialism with relevance for public policy is desirable. We are open as to the specific intellectual and methodological approach.
Candidates should show evidence of a trajectory of internationally excellent research, including the potential to publish in world-leading journals and/or academic presses; a well-defined and viable strategy for future research that has the potential to result in world-leading publications; and the ability and willingness to engage in high quality teaching on courses relevant to the MSc in European and International Public Policy.
Candidates will need to have a completed PhD, or PhD thesis submitted for examination, in political science or a related discipline, by the post start date.
The other criteria that will be used when shortlisting for this post can be found on the person specification, which is attached to this vacancy on the LSE’s online recruitment system.
