Position Summary The Department of Soil and Crop Sciences at Colorado State University (CSU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in soil science and nutrient management. This position is a 50% research, 40% teaching, and 10% service/outreach appointment on a 9-month contract. We seek applications from dynamic and motivated scientists who have broad expertise in soil science, nutrient management, crop nutrition, and soil health. The successful applicant will be expected to build an internationally recognized research program focused on nutrient management, soil fertility and soil health in agricultural systems. This work may focus on organic and inorganic nutrient inputs, plant nutrition, soil fertility/health regeneration, water and air quality aspects of nutrient management, circular nutrient economy, precision agriculture, and/or related topics. Additionally, applicants should have strong knowledge of soil-crop-nutrient relationships, macro- and micronutrient deficiencies, and the interface with soil fertility and biogeochemistry. This individual would complement existing department strengths and collaborate with other faculty in the department working in crop improvement/genetics, biogeochemistry, soil microbiology/ecology, agroecology, water management, and related fields. It is expected that the successful candidate will work with multiple stakeholders to develop extensive on-farm research in soil nutrient management, soil health, and applied agronomy, both for advancing science in the field and contributing to extension materials. The successful candidate will teach an undergraduate course, Soil Fertility Management (SOCR 350), including both lecture and lab sessions, as well as a graduate or upper division course in line with candidate strengths and departmental needs. They will also actively engage in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Required Job Qualifications
  • Completion of PhD in soil science, agronomy, or closely related discipline (all requirements finished by the time of application)
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, commensurate with experience
  • Field-based research experience
