The Department of Biochemistry at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek candidates who are using innovative approaches to address important and challenging biomedical problems at the molecular level. Candidates are expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program and contribute to the education and mentorship of graduate students and postdoctoral trainees. Areas of departmental strength include RNA biology, chromatin biology, signal transduction, protein folding and misfolding, structural biology, and drug discovery. Investigators developing and utilizing innovative approaches including computational biology, single molecule biochemistry, genomics, and synthetic biology are especially encouraged to apply. 

The successful candidates will join a diverse, collegial and vibrantly growing research community. The Biochemistry department has exceptional faculty who have received major international awards, including election to the National Academy of Sciences and a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine (Stanley Cohen, 1986). Biochemistry is part of the School of Medicine—Basic Sciences at Vanderbilt University, which provides an ideal environment for discovery science and provides access to world-class core facilities

Trainees in the appointee’s lab will also be eligible for salary support through more than 25 externally funded graduate and postdoctoral training programs.
