The University of North Georgia’s Social Foundations and Leadership Education Department is seeking applications for the position of a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Education with expertise in the field of Curriculum & Instruction beginning Fall 2024. This 10-month, tenure-track position will begin in August 2024. Summer teaching is possible but not guaranteed. This position will also serve as the Program Coordinator for the Curriculum & Instruction degree online program. 


The faculty member is expected to teach specified courses; prepare course materials; provide support, guidance, and advising to students; maintain records pertinent to accreditation; guide students in the completion of field placements related to the degree program; attend data days and state meetings related to Curriculum and Instruction; work with the department head and college to ensure compliance with state rules and standards; work with Graduate Admissions on recruitment; and assist with continuous improvement efforts as related to programming in Curriculum and Instruction. Commitment to a collaborative curriculum development model is expected. The primary teaching responsibility will be in the Curriculum and Instruction online program but other online and face-to-face teaching opportunities may exist, depending on expertise, credentialing, and departmental need.
General faculty responsibilities in the department include the following:
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses face-to-face, hybrid or online;
Guide and track candidates¿ field and clinical experiences associated with specific program courses;
Participate in program review, program assessment, and accreditation activities; and
Participate in student success activities in the areas of teaching, research, and service. 
General Program Coordinator responsibilities in the department include the following: 
Lead recruitment activities in conjunction with the Graduate Admissions Office; 
Serve as advisor for students in the program; 
Lead assessment, accreditation, and program review activities in conjunction with the department head and the COE Assessment and Accreditation Office; 
Support full-time and part-time faculty teaching in the program; 
Participate in meetings or other opportunities related to Curriculum and Instruction at the state level; and 
Perform other duties as assigned. 


  • Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field, is required;
  • Record of, or strong potential for establishment of, a scholarly research agenda; and
  • A minimum of three year’s experience in K-12 teaching.

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching in the fully online environment.

  • Ability to work collegially with other members of the College faculty and utilize opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Knowledge of current national and state standards, as well as GaPSC program standards for Curriculum & Instruction or a related field.
  • Familiarity with learning, teaching, and equity and justice-oriented educational theories;
  • Professional written and oral communication skills; and
  • Evidence of effective and innovative teaching practices.
