Job Summary: | The Marist College Education Department seeks candidates for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Literacy Education to begin in Fall 2024. |

Essential Functions: | Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in P – 12 education methods and literacy instruction. Supervision and assessment of teacher candidates may also be included. Applicants should have an active research agenda that leads to high-quality peer reviewed publications and the ability to mentor student projects. Also responsible for advisement of teacher candidates and participation as part of a departmental team engaged in continuous improvement efforts. |

About the Department/School: | The Education Department is a member of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences along with departments for psychology, criminal justice, and social work. The Education Department offers a variety of teacher preparation programs including: (1) elementary education, grades 1-6, with dual certification for students with disabilities (2) a birth through second grade add-on teacher certification, and (3) adolescence education, grades 7 – 12, with dual certification for students with disabilities in eight content areas (English, math, social studies, biology, chemistry, earth science, Spanish, and French). The department also offers two master’s level degrees: Masters of Arts in Teaching and MS in Education, Contemporary Curriculum & Instruction. The Education Department and the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences are committed to advancing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive climate. The school has taken leadership with several social justice initiatives, including Creating an Inclusive Community dialogues, the Marist Center for Social Justice Research, and the Marist College Diversity Leadership Institute. |
