Department Information
Serving over 250 music majors and 1600 non-majors, the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music is a dynamic and inclusive community of learners within the College of the Arts at KSU, the 3rd largest public university in the University System of Georgia. The Bailey School of Music offers undergraduate degrees in performance (instrumental, vocal, and jazz), music theory, composition, and music education, as well as a music minor. Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Trumpet faculty position in the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music with a preferred start date of August 2024. This is a nine-month contracted position.
Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate courses in the area of trumpet. Courses to be taught will include applied lessons and brass ensembles, and may also include secondary courses as necessary in brass techniques, pedagogy and literature, or a secondary area, depending on qualifications.
- Service to the Bailey School of Music (including service as brass area coordinator), College of the Arts, and to the University, as well as professional service to the profession and/or community is expected.
- Scholarship/Creative activity in the field of trumpet performance and/or pedagogy is expected.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree, or the foreign equivalent, in music, with a concentration in trumpet performance and/or pedagogy, is required. ABD candidates may be considered but degree must be completed before position start date.
- At least 3 years of teaching experience in applied trumpet at the collegiate level is required. Graduate teaching assistantship experience may be considered.
- Evidence of excellence in trumpet performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of experience directing/coaching collegiate brass ensembles
- Evidence of ability and knowledge of recruitment and commitment to student success
