The Department of Urology at Emory University School of Medicine is recruiting faculty members at the rank of tenure-eligible Assistant Professor. We seek to recruit laboratory-based scientists to conduct independent and highly innovative translational research related to prostate, kidney, bladder, and other urologic cancers. Successful candidates will join an outstanding urology department with new initiatives to build research programs for the rapid translation of basic discoveries to the clinic.
Candidates will be PhD, MD/PhD, or MD scientists working in the field that includes, but is not limited to, cancer genomics, epigenomics, tumor immunology, metabolism, DNA damage response, computational biology, and bioinformatics. The focus of the research could be in any area of the disease space, including cancer etiology, tumor growth and metastasis, biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, treatment resistance, and the development of new therapeutics. Outstanding candidates will have a track record of significant publications and funding in relevant fields.
The successful candidate will be supported by generous start-up funds and join an energetic and collaborative team of clinicians and scientists in a highly interactive and collegial research environment. The candidate will enter an active and dynamic research landscape, with notable expertise in the fields of cancer genomics and epigenomics, bioinformatics, liquid and radiographic biomarkers, and the immune response to cancer. In addition, the candidate will be appointed as a member of the Winship Cancer Center, an NCI Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, that provides broad academic engagement, funding, and opportunities for collaboration.
In addition, the Urology department has strong collaborations with basic science departments, including the department of human genetics, microbiology and immunology, and the Emory Vaccine Center. The candidate will be eligible to be jointly appointed in any suitable basic science department to facilitate their participation in graduate programs, teaching opportunities, and collaboration with other basic scientists in the larger Emory community.
