The Oregon State University Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society in the College of Forestry is recruiting a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, Assistant Professor of Practice Urban Forestry and Outreach Engagement Specialist.

There is increasing demand for urban foresters who can help cities plan and maintain a sustainable and resilient community in the face of changing environmental and social conditions. This position will provide instruction and extension in urban forestry, green infrastructure, planning, policy, environmental justice, management, and leadership. The incumbent will be a member of the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society (FES) and will also contribute to the Forestry and Natural Resources Extension (FNR) team that provides non-credit learning experiences on forestry and natural resource issues to a wide range of audiences.

The specialist will be expected to teach online undergraduate and graduate courses on urban forestry, green infrastructure and other related natural resource topics, conduct research and scholarship centered on urban forestry, arboriculture, or similar topics, and advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. The specialist will also provide Extension programming such as workshops, field trips, property tours and demonstrations, and provide communications through peer-reviewed publications, podcasts, newsletter articles, and media posts. Expectations are 50% teaching and advising, 25% Extension programming, 15% research and scholarship, and 10% service and professional development.
