The Department of Surgery, Division of Urology is inviting applications for a full-time Contract Academic Staff (Research) faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The academic appointment will be within the Department of Surgery, with an affiliation in the Departments of Microbiology & Immunology and Oncology. This is a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure.
The department is seeking a junior scientist to become part of a translational research team currently comprised of three basic scientists, three clinician-scientists, and a genitourinary pathologist with a focus on bladder cancer biology. This urologic oncology team is part of the Cancer Research Program of the MUHC Research Institute. This position will be based within the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre at the Glen Site.
The selected candidate will be expected to establish a unique and competitive translational research program with a strong focus in bladder cancer biology, immunology and immunotherapy.
Job Duties
The successful candidate will perform translational research and supervise and support students in their research. Primary activities will involve initiating a competitive, independently funded bladder cancer research program that will integrate and synergize with the already existing urologic oncology research teams, as well as foster collaborations among other researchers (including the Goodman Cancer Institute, McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Oncology Group, and/or Centre of Excellence in Translational Immunology), as well as clinicians of the urology team. The successful applicant will be involved in teaching activities, including lecturing and the supervision of both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The candidate will be expected to develop their own independent research career and be successful in obtaining grants in support of his or her research and salary.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Candidates must:
Consideration will be given to candidates with previous experience in bladder cancer research as well as expertise in immuno-oncology. Experience in bioinformatics is a plus. Leadership experience in a research context is an asset.
