Dean of the Faculty of Geology, University of Warsaw with the consent of the Rector of the University of Warsaw announces open competition for the of Assistant Professor in the group research and teaching staff in the Department of Tectonics and Geological Cartography at the Faculty of Geology at the University of Warsaw

Conditions of competition:

• Ph.D. in Earth Sciences in the field of geology,
• Authorship and/or co-authorship of scientific publications, based on photogrammetric imaging methods, 3D analysis of terrain morphology, taking into account the use of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV),
• Experience in applying specialized computer programs using photogrammetric imaging methods and GIS,
• Participation in scientific conferences,
• Fluency in Polish language to present lectures and to manage the laboratory and field courses,
• Fluency in English,
• Experience in teaching of geoinformatics, GIS, photogrammetry, and the use of UAV.

Specific Requirements

Basic duties:

• conducting exercises, inter alia, in the field of geological mapping, photogrammetry,  and ARC GIS,
• undertaking initiatives in the field of innovation in the teaching process,
• development of research in their field of interest,
• publishing and conference activity in the national and international dimension,
• commitment to fundraising for research,
• involvement in the affairs of the Department of Tectonics and Geological Mapping and the Faculty of Geology.

Selection process

The person selected in the competition will be employed on the basis of a full-time employment contract for a fixed period. Documents should be submitted to the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Geology of the University of Warsaw (Warsaw, 93 Żwirki i Wigury Street, room P003 or sent to the e-mail address: [email protected] ). Application deadline: February 18, 2024.

Applications will be considered by the Faculty Admissions Committee. The Faculty reserves the right to respond only to selected offers and to close the competition without selecting a candidate. The competition will be settled by March 31, 2024.

The competition is the first stage of the procedure for employing academic teachers, as defined in the Statute of the University of Warsaw. Its positive result will initiate the next stages of employee procedures. Only candidates who meet the conditions set out in Art. 113 of the Act of 20 July 2020 Law on Higher Education and Science (consolidated text; Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742)
