Offer Description

The Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management (TPM) invites applications for a Academic Career Track position (with a focus on education) as an assistant professor in Transport and Logistics Systems.

The position is established within the Transport and Logistics (TLO) group, which is part of the department of Engineering Systems and Services (ESS) at TPM. The TLO group strongly contributes to the culture of excellence which makes TU Delft one of the most well-known places worldwide to study transport and logistics.

We are looking for candidates who have a system perspective and have strong policy, design, modeling, or analytical skills to teach and research transport and logistics topics on macro (and meso) levels.

TLO offers the opportunity to perform cutting-edge multidisciplinary research with high societal impact. With our new hire, we have the ambition to maintain and further enhance our reputation as a place for highly influential research and teaching in transport and logistics systems.

Requirements
Specific Requirements

Applicants should have (or expect to complete soon) a PhD in Transport, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management or a closely related field, from a reputed academic institution.

The candidate should possess (or have a clear ambition to obtain) broad expertise in the field of Transport and Logistics at a system level, and she or he is expected to have a multidisciplinary attitude. Successful candidates have a knowledge base that is not confined to e.g., only one mode of transport or micro-level modeling.

Candidates need to demonstrate a clear potential for excellence in teaching and research.

The to-be-hired Academic Career Track assistant professor will actively contribute to education at all levels, including supervision and tutoring of students, collaborating with other research groups inside the department (Energy & Industry, and ICT) and faculty, and help to maintain a high level of academic impact and international visibility of the TLO group and the ESS department.

Benefits

This position is offered as an Academic Career Track position (0.8 – 1.0 FTE). During the Academic Career Track, we expect you to grow towards an Associate Professor position within a maximum of eight years, for which a position will be available.

You will regularly discuss your development and results with senior staff based on a personalized development plan and performance criteria agreed upon at the start of your Academic Career Track. You will start with a temporary contract that will be converted to a permanent contract no later than 12 -18 months after a positive evaluation, based on continuous confidence in your development potential and fit in the organisation.

Inspiring, excellent education is our central aim. We expect you to obtain a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) within three years if you have less than five years of teaching experience. This is provided by the TU Delft UTQ programme as part of the Academic Career Track Development programme.
