Position Description
The University of Washington’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine invites applications for a full-time physiatrist with focus on neurorehabilitation to join our faculty at UW Medicine as an Assistant Professor (without tenure due to source of funding, which is typical of ranked faculty appointments within the department), in the Clinician-Educator pathway.
Academic rank at the time of appointment is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Assistant professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Anticipated start date is mid to late 2024, but other dates may be considered.

Serve as the attending physician on the inpatient consult service and inpatient rehabilitation units at Harborview Medical Center (HMC) and also will see patients in the outpatient rehabilitation clinic at HMC, where conditions treated will include traumatic brain injury. The individual hired will participate in covering weekend and holiday attending rounds at University of Washington Medical Center and/or Harborview Medical Center, will share on-call coverage as part of the department’s attending call schedule, and will participate in the teaching of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residents and medical students as well as visiting residents and the brain injury medicine fellow(s).The individual hired will also have opportunities to provide education and participate in CME courses and/or other didactics and seminars within the University of Washington School of Medicine and Medical Center.
All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
The base salary range for this position will be $14,166 – $20,194 per month ($169,992 – $242,328 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.
Other compensation associated with this position may include any of the following, if applicable: incentive through UW Physicians (UWP), moving allowance, relocation incentive.

Qualifications
- MD, DO, or foreign equivalent and eligible for full medical licensure in Washington state
- Board certification or eligibility for Board Certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
- Successful completion of residency training in an accredited PM&R program
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
