Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the UNODC Programme Office in Mauritania (POMRT), with duty station in Nouakchott, Regional Office for West and Central Africa (ROSEN), Division for Operations (DO), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Responsibilities
Within assigned authority, the incumbent will perform the following specific duties: • Provide management support for ongoing project activities by contributing to the development of the work plan. Organize logistics, prepare agendas and coordinate with stakeholders for the organization of activities according to operational needs. • Ensure compliance with authorization procedures in accordance with donor requirements. • Contribute to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, research reports and other documents as needed; draft minutes for project meetings. Maintain records/documents/files relating to the project. • Provide administrative and substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying and propose participants, preparation of background documents and presentations, handling logistics, etc.. Compile and prepare briefing and presentation materials, speeches, background information and documentation for meetings and missions. • Contribute to performing administrative duties and logistical services, as required (e.g., operational travel programme/organize travel, ensure processing of visa applications, identity cards and other documents etc.; ensure arrangement of transport, monitoring of vehicle maintenance and insurance. Assist in the organization, execution and coordination of logistical needs. • Assist in the proper control of supporting documents for payments and financial reports. Verify related documents/forms provided by partners before submitting them to the financial assistant for verification. • Provide assistance in budget preparation, provision of information for the audit. • Monitor accounts and payment to vendors and individual contractors for services, etc. • Ensure correct receipt of goods and services. Monitor and manage maintenance of equipment, software and systems, office supplies, identify office technology needs, etc. • Maintain contacts with partners and project staff, organize meetings and act as an interpreter if necessary. Assist in the coordination of planned project events. Ensure provision of administrative support for conferences, workshops, retreats. • Provide support for office maintenance and asset management by serving as a focal point in monitoring asset management files, etc., support the maintenance of common premises and services. • Support the strengthening and sharing of knowledge within the project. Participate in training for operations and programme staff. Contribute to knowledge networks and community practices. • Contribute to the collection and analysis of data and identification of trends or patterns and provide draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Document requirements and background information used for data analysis • Assist in liaising with counterparts within UNODC, both at headquarters and in the field and assist in building strategic partnerships; foster collaboration with relevant stakeholders, government officials, representatives of inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations, business partners, to obtain and exchange relevant information. • Perform other work-related duties, as required.

Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, sociology, political science, (project) management or international relations or any other similar field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in programme or project administration with a first level university degree is required. The minimum work experience is reduced to 0 years for applicants with an advanced university degree. Work experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, e.g. SAP/Umoja is desirable. Work experience in managing data processing tools (i. e. Office 365, power BI) is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable. Work experience with an international organization is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, English and French is required. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable. Knowledge of another language spoken in Mauritania is an advantage. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency-based interview.
