Please note: At risk or redeployee applicants may be given priority.

We are looking for enthusiastic people to join our Flood Risk Management team at Calderdale
Council to work on an exciting and innovative landscape recovery project.

Calderdale has a strong history of partnership working across the borough and our goal in the
team is to reduce flood risk, increase resilience, enhance biodiversity and reduce the impact
of the global climate crisis in our communities so if you have a keen interest in helping
people and improving the environment this opportunity is the perfect fit.

An opportunity has arisen that would directly support delivery of the Council’s priority of
tackling the climate and biodiversity emergencies, by planning and designing nature-based
solutions that would mitigate carbon emissions and contribute towards the Council’s place based
target to be carbon neutral by 2038.

The Calder and Colne Landscape Links (CCaLL) project will build on our existing work and
provide a more climate resilient landscape and new health and wellbeing opportunities within
nature for local communities whilst reducing flood risk; increasing key species abundance;
reducing moorland fire risk and providing more a connected species rich wildlife habitat.

This two-year landscape planning and design climate resilience and carbon mitigation project
will improve biodiversity and investigate new economic funding models for c15,000hectares with
20 landowners across the Upper Calder and Colne catchments.

CCaLL is a DEFRA funded project, and we have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Project
Manager to join the team to work with partners, stakeholders and communities in the support and
successful delivery of the project.

The roles involve many exciting duties and opportunities in the field of environmental science
and flood risk management.

    the Council’s Finance Team.

material in advance of relevant Programme/Project Board and team meetings.

The further two days will consist of support and development of Natural Flood Management
initiatives and projects within the borough working on priorities that tackle the climate and
biodiversity emergencies.

This will include,

  • Assist with identifying funding opportunities and develop applications, with partner
organisations where applicable, to fund NFM activities within Calderdale.

development of a Natural Flood Management Strategy.

    fire risk on moorlands.
  • Work with existing farmer networks to scale-up guidance to farmers and landowners.
