Job Purpose
This role will support Project Managers with the coordination, monitoring, and delivery of
projects in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin. You will be expected to gain competence and
independence in post and have the clear potential to become a full Project Manager.
MEA welcomes applications from candidates with limited work experience, who can demonstrate a
quickness and willingness to learn.
Person specification
To fulfill this post MEA is looking for you to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the different elements that go to make up a project, and a
strong commitment to assuming ownership of aspects of a project. - Be a good communicator able to listen and empathise with a range of householders.
- Be a good team player able to work as part of a small team, but also unsupervised.
- Have excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Be able to show a good level of understanding of energy efficiency in the home, and a clear
willingness to learn more. - Be competent in the use of online phone and IT systems, cloud-based databases, etc.
- Be able to demonstrate a clear commitment to, and understanding of our climate and
ecological crisis, and some understanding of what living in a cold home is like. - Show a clear alignment with our values and vision.
- Hold a degree or equivalent level qualification/ experience.
- Be based in MEA’s office in Shrewsbury.
Job Description
You will:
- Assist Project Manager(s) on the coordination, monitoring and delivery of projects.
- Work productively to a good standard.
- Demonstrate a positive ‘can do’ approach.
- Gain specialist sector specific knowledge.
- Demonstrate good compliance with MEA’s financial and administrative processes.
As you progress you will also:
- Take initiative and responsibility for aspects of the project, with oversight from Project
Managers. - Step up to take on some Project Manager responsibilities for a time limited period, for
example when the Project Manager is on leave. This may include being a point of contact
internally and externally, being able to represent the project and knowledgably and competently
undertake routine tasks. - Contribute significantly towards a project’s successful delivery in terms of outcomes
within budget. - Be able to assist on a range of projects including those which are more complex and
demanding. - Have good and growing sector specific knowledge.
- Continue to develop the breadth and/or depth of support you provide.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of a project(s) finances.
- Support MEA’s organisational development for example by contributing ideas, supporting bid
writing, research etc. - Work towards additional relevant qualifications such as DEA , Retrofit Assessor, or a
Project Management qualification.
Training: On the job training and support provided including undertaking a
Level 3 NVQ in energy awareness. You will also be expected to undergo a basic DBS check.
Pay: £23,729 – £25,500 pro rata per annum; work travel costs paid.
Hours of work: 21.75 – 36.25 hours per week.. Part-time staff must spread
their hours over not less than 4 days a week.
Leave: 24 paid days pro-rata per annum + bank holidays.
Duration: Fixed term contract until 31 March 2025, opportunity to extend
subject to funding.
