The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our South Puget Sound Region. This position reports to the Region manager and responsible for all Business and Operations functions, to include: Fleet Management, Facility Management, Budget, Wildfire business support, Information Technology, Accounting and Payroll. This position works closely with the SPS management team to support a variety of staff throughout the entire Region. South Puget Sound Region covers King, Pierce, Kitsap, Mason, Thurston, and parts of Snohomish, Lewis and Grays Harbor counties. Sitting between the central Cascades and the Olympic Mountains, this region is trisected north and south by Puget Sound, Hood Canal, and Lake Washington and includes the popular Tahoma, Elbe Hills, Capitol, Green Mountain, Tahuya and Tiger Mountain state forests.Duties

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • An associate’s degree in public administration, natural resource management or closely related field;
    OR a combination of equivalent experience and/or education.
  • Four years of experience managing business functions for a dispersed field organization; experience managing personnel, technology, accounting, budgeting and financial resources, fleet and equipment management; experience directing the activities of a diverse, professional staff.
  • A successful record of improving business or operational systems.
  • Ability to think strategically and envision future scenarios.
  • Skills in mediation, facilitation and negotiations.
  • Knowledge in personnel management principles.
  • Knowledge of agency policies, practices, procedures, and tasks.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, in writing and orally.
  • Budget preparation and administration.
  • Use independent judgment; critical thinking; solve problems.
