The Role
Graduations are some of the most prestigious and exciting events in the University calendar, celebrating the achievements of 5000 graduates over the year, who bring 11,000 guests to ceremonies. Based in Academic Registry, the Assistant Registrar (Graduation and Awards) is responsible for the strategic and operational management of a range of complex processes that are integral to the success of graduations such as the identification of students eligible to graduate, registration and ticket booking; verification of awards; production of accurate name lists for printed programmes; tickets and seating plans and printing certificates. With the support of two co-ordinators, the post-holder also manages an award documents service, providing printed and electronic award documents including replacement certificates, diploma supplements and certified copies of award documents to third parties and alumni.
The Person
The successful candidate will possess advanced experience and knowledge of working with SITS database. They will be able to analyse, interpret and manipulate large volumes of data and create complex, advanced-level Excel spreadsheets. They will have strong attention to detail, with accuracy crucial to this role. Working independently, they must be able to plan a schedule of activities according to key dependencies and deadlines, in collaboration with other departments and colleagues. The post-holder will be passionate about providing excellent customer care, and encourage a similar approach within their team.

Academic Registry supports the University’s governance and decision-making committees, maintains academic regulations, develops and implements academic policies and oversees the quality and standards of academic provision.
In conjunction with faculties, we are responsible for timetabling all teaching across the University and ensuring the smooth-running of exams. We also provide guidance on the institution’s assessment and regulatory framework. Alongside colleagues, we deliver statutory returns and student management information as well as administering formal student academic appeals.

This is part time (22.20 hours per week), fixed term position for 12 months with a starting salary of £25,912.20 per annum (60% pro rata to £43,187 annum).
