Location: Llandrindod Wells, Warwick House (with travel within England and
Wales)
Salary: £21,255 – 23,000 (plus relocation package) based on experience
Permanent, 37.5 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements
We are looking to recruit an positive & creative thinking Assistant Reserves Officer who
will support the delivery of the reserves team’s practical conservation and land management,
assisting with wildlife monitoring, management planning and visitor engagement activities
across the RWT’s suite of nature reserves.
Your role as Assistant Reserves Officer will consist of carrying out practical repairs and
maintenance of tools and equipment. You’ll undertake management works and biological
monitoring/recording to benefit priority habitats and species on all RWT nature reserves in
conjunction with staff and volunteers. You’ll be working closely with the Reserves Officer to
plan quarterly work schedule for the volunteer groups, as well as the monitoring activities
across the reserves.
Our ideal candidate will have / be:
- Experience of delivering practical habitat management for biodiversity directly and through
volunteers and contractors - Strong practical wildlife habitat and infrastructure management skills, including fencing,
tree felling, forestry, grassland management, infrastructure, and signage installation. - A sound knowledge of H&S in relation to practical habitat, volunteer and visitor
management - An understanding of the key issues and threats to nature and climate
- Good IT skills including Microsoft 365 suite, QGIS as well as confidence in using social
media to boost engagement. - A formal qualification (degree or similar) or equivalent work experience in
biological/environmental science/countryside management

within Wales. With the invaluable support of volunteers and members, we manage 19 nature
reserves in Radnorshire. We also work with other landowners and organisations to protect and
connect wildlife sites across the county and inspire local communities and young people where
they live.
