Additional Position Information | The Assistant Vice President, Campus Safety and Security reports to the Executive Vice President and COO/CFO and is a member of the Business & Finance Leadership Team responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the university campus community, including students, faculty, staff and visitors. This role will provide strategic leadership, management, and oversight for all departments and functions related to campus safety. The AVP directs staff in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining security processes, practices, and policies throughout the organization to reduce risks, respond to incidents, and limit exposure and liability while also maintaining relationships with high-level officials in law enforcement to include, local, state, national and international agencies and private sector counterparts. |

Duties & Responsibilities | Oversees the administration of Campus Safety and Security for all campus activities, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and audit responses while adhering to all University policies and procedures. Provides strategic leadership and vision and sets goals and objectives for areas under its responsibility. Reviews crime statistics for the University and reports them to the TN Bureau of Investigation via (TBIRS) and Department of Education (Clery Act) in collaboration with the Chief of Police. Provides follow-up information of incidents and crimes to the university executive team. Reviews, updates, and makes recommendations for safety and security policies. |
