Associate, Adapting the Fellows Program for Rural and Community-Based Leaders

Acumen Academy is seeking an Associate, with at least 5 years of experience, who speaks and writes Spanish fluently and can converse and write at a medium level in English, and is willing to travel around Colombia 4 – 6 weeks of the year, to lead operations on our new Leadership Program that we are adapting to rural and community-based leaders.

We are democratizing access to knowledge to create a community of builders dedicated to social change with the skills, values, and intention to change the narrative of Latin America. The new Leadership Development Program for rural and grassroots leaders in Colombia is an adaptation of our renown Fellow Program for a rural audience that will launch its first cohort in 2024.

About the role 
We are looking for someone to take accountability for the overall experience of our Leadership Program for rural and grassroots leaders.

Accountabilities

Lead Program Operations

Act as team lead on the adaptation of our Fellows program: oversee program operations, define the program delivery calendar annually, make adjustments and adapt to the global survey and templates, so they respond to the needs of the regions.

Run Program from start to finish:

  • Be accountable for the overall program experience, identify opportunities for improvement, coordinate with curriculum.
  • Collaborate with marketing and regional counterparts to run recruitment campaigns.
  • Lead selection process.
  • Evolve our facilitator guides and materials to ensure facilitators have everything they need to run weekly sessions.
  • Coordinate a team of contract facilitators.
  • Support participants on a weekly basis during the program, including responding to inquiries and individual consultation calls as needed.

Impact Reporting and Quality Assurance

  • Understand our local impact thesis and the implications (such as design and data collection) during training and accompaniment.
  • Collate and share key program results and insights with program team and broader Academy teams, as well as with funders and other external stakeholders.
  • Work in close partnership with local teams and Academy Directors to provide proposal development input for leadership program.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Facilitation experience or teacher with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Solid operational skills: project and stakeholder management skills and timely deliverables.
  • Experience working with online learning platforms or building online courses
  • Comfort engaging with people online and in person.
  • Fluent in Spanish (ability to speak and write clearly). Medium English level.
  • Experience designing and executing public events, online and in person.
  • Problem solving and project management skills, able to effectively coordinate all program components on a schedule.
  • Ability to work and deliver projects independently, proactively and under pressure.
  • Ability to get the details right.
  • Strong analytic and excel skills.
  • Able to analyze key programmatic and operational insights and recommend shifts accordingly.
  • Effective collaborator who is able to work with different colleagues and personalities, at all levels both externally and internally, and across a variety of functions and geographies.
  • Must live in Colombia.
  • Must be willing to travel across Colombia 4 – 6 weeks a year.
  • Previous participation in leadership or professional development program preferred.
  • Experience facilitating leadership development or social innovation programs preferred.
