In collaboration with the Director for Alumni Engagement, Asia, direct several aspects of NYU and NYU Shanghai’s alumni relations efforts, events and volunteer management in Asia, to meet diverse alumni needs and support strategic goals of the University. Manage communications including creation of event registrations, email marketing, and other forms of alumni storytelling. Partner with Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Communications, and other offices across NYU Shanghai to provide alumni-related content. Manage all student-alumni programming and initiatives (e.g. events, mentor programs, Violet Network, etc.) that provide opportunities for NYU Shanghai alumni stay connected with the community and with the campus. Lead and manage the fundraising campaigns, primarily the student fundraising programs.

 

 

The main responsibilities include:

Responsibility A (30%)

  • Manage and grow a robust programs and events to engage NYU Shanghai’s 2,000+ alumni worldwide, make our alumni the best ambassador, supporter and advocates of the school;
  • The coordinator will work closely with academic and student affairs colleagues across campus to provide opportunities for alumni to be involved in the current and future life of NYU Shanghai. Examples include, collect updated alumni contact and employment information, recognize alumni, identify speakers, and feature storytellers, connect alumni to students, organize social and professional development programming for alumni, and train volunteers. This will also include set up event registration, email marketing and staff events.

Responsibility B (30%)

  • Assist in planning and executing the NYU alumni programs in Asia, serving the region’s 25,000 alumni through 12 clubs and 100+ volunteers;
  • Support event planning, communications and marketing, post-event recaps, data and photo management;
  • Support the club with opportunities to enrich their programs, for example, brainstorm program idea, provide video editing and poster design support;
  • Collaborate with colleagues across NYU schools to host events in Asia, featuring school leadership and faculty members. Staff signature events such as Mentor Program events, and club’s signature events such as the Pan-Asia Alumni Conference and the club’s year end galas;
  • Guide the volunteers to follow NYU procedures and direct data and registration to NYU platforms and tools.

Responsibility C (30%)

  • Lead and manage NYU Shanghai’s student fundraising programs, in particular the 2013 Fund, raise awareness and participation on campus and among our alumni, parents and friends’ community;
  • Education our community the importance of giving, foster a culture of philanthropy, encourage participation and increase dollar raised;
  • Analyze donor data to understand our donor profile for better programming and engagement opportunities;
  • Partner with the Annual Fund colleagues in New York, to actively promote NYU Shanghai’s annual fund programs on university-wide initiatives, such as One Day.

 

Responsibility D (10%)

  • Maintain accurate data records of event attendance, alumni information. Ordering alumni giveaways. Manage office administrative works.

Required Education

  • Bachelor degree is required.

Required Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in alumni relations, events planning and management, and volunteer management/staff supervision, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Experience in higher education, non-profit, or development environment is required;
  • 3+ years related experience at academic institution preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven ability to work in international setting and build relationships with people from diverse cultural backgrounds;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Highly organized and creative;
  • Experience with alumni relations, events planning, logistics, and management;
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing needs;
  • Ability to professionally interact with all levels of alumni, parents and staff;
  • Proficiency with word processing and Excel spreadsheets;
  • Familiarity with presentation software, and database software and desktop publishing applications;
  • Able to travel, and work in evenings and weekends;
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin.
