JOB PURPOSE:
Stanford University, recognized as one of the most prestigious and innovative academic institutions in the world, has an immediate opening for a Director in the First Generation and/or Low-Income (FLI) Student Success Center. The FLI Student Success Center (FLISSC) is proud to be part of the Centers for Equity, Community, and Leadership within the division of Student Affairs. The Centers consist of the Asian American Activities Center, Black Community Services Center, El Centro Chicano y Latino, First Generation and/or Low-Income Student Success Center, Markaz Community Resources Center, Native American Cultural Center, Queer Student Resources Center, and Women’s Community Center. Each Center works to advance learning and student development through five pillars – Academic and Intellectual Engagement, Leadership Development, Mental Health & Well-Being, Community Building, and Alumni Engagement.
The Student Affairs Division, with students as our focus, engages with a range of constituents including faculty, staff, parents, alumni, as well as other groups in the external community. The Director of FLI plays a critical role in cultivating an inclusive and welcoming campus community with particular attention to the needs and concerns of first-generation and low-income students. The Director provides strategy, vision and direction, manages the office’s programs and operations, as well as supervises staff and students who assist with the development and implementation of the department’s services, programs and events.
The Director will ensure that first generation and low-income student programs at Stanford is viewed as a national model for creating a campus environment that is inclusive and supportive of diversity with particular attention to first-generation and low- income student issues. The Director provides this leadership with attention to emerging first-generation and low-income issues and continual review of best practices in student services on college campuses. The Director serves as a visible resource and advocate for the entire Stanford community regarding these issues, working in close partnership with other academic departments and offices within Student Affairs. In addition, the Director will represent the office and Stanford University on internal committees and at external conferences.

The expected pay range for this position is $121,000 – $140,000 per annum.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
