About the Provost and Deputy Vice – Chancellor Portfolio
The Provost is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational delivery of our academic objectives. This includes ensuring a continued focus on outstanding academic performance and scholarship, strategic planning and sound financial management through the faculties, University schools, centres, and other academic units. The Provost is responsible for ensuring a high-performance culture across all faculties and University schools that enables research, education, community engagement and innovation to flourish.
About the opportunity
As the Associate Director, you will lead, and manage sensitive and complex initiatives delegated from the Executive Director. You will leverage your leadership and subject matter expertise to provide high level support and advice on efficient and effective process for operational matters, faculty and portfolio projects, strategic initiatives and ensure the delivery of agreed outcomes. As Associate Director, you will be responsible for working closely with the Provost, Vice-Provost and Executive Director and represent a consistent approach to key tasks to support the objectives of Office of Provost & DVC (OPDVC) and the wider university environment.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
work within a dynamic team, collaborating closely with the Executive Director
deputise for the Executive Director as required and implement decisions taken by the Provost, Vice-Provost and Executive Director
oversee the alignment and implementation of key strategic objectives and projects for the OPDVC
manage day-to-day operating activities for the OPDVC including effective planning, delegating, coordinating, staffing, organising, and decision making to ensure business objectives and goals are reached
provide effective leadership and management guidance and support to the staff in the work area to build an effective and high performing team
provide coordination and consolidation of advice to the Executive Director on workforce planning and resource management across the offices within the Portfolio
support the mitigation, identification and management of risks that may impact the efficient and effective execution of the University strategy and local business plans, or the delivery of core services within the Portfolio
About you
postgraduate qualifications and/or extensive experience in a related field
demonstrated record of high achievement in an executive and/or advisory capacity, preferably within the higher education sector
experience in the development and implementation of policy
proven ability to establish, monitor and review administrative procedures with a strong focus on continuous improvement
strong leadership and people management experience including staff supervision, training, mentoring and performance management
proven ability in developing and maintaining strategic and effective relationships both internally and externally across the University or within a similarly complex, large organisation
advanced verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present communications for a variety of audiences.
