Definition of Class

The University of Mississippi’s Office of Academic Outreach is seeking an Associate Director for Online Programs. This position assists with tracking new online program development, enrollment, online program marketing, reporting, and national trends of online education.  The incumbent will also participate in strategic planning and program assessment for Online Programs, oversee a team of instructional designers and the development of online student support.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Oversees daily activities and assists with fiscal management of departmental operations.
  • Ensures Academic Outreach guidelines are congruent with academic departments.
  • Coordinates marketing strategies and campaigns with the Director of Marketing for Outreach.
  • Promotes and monitors academic enrollment to ensure programs are profitable and compliant with policies.
  • Monitors program budgets, prepares reports on enrollments, income, and expenditures and participates in annual budget development.
  • Develops, revises, and implements support documents for programs, including policies and procedure manuals, emergency management plans, etc.
  • Manages scholarship awards, uploads, billing, payroll processing, student enrollments for programs, and other student needs.
  • Participates in the development of policies, goals, and objectives for academic outreach programs.
  • Ensures compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a liaison for Academic Outreach and the Division of Outreach.
  • Represents Academic Outreach on campus as well as at regional and national conferences.
  • Provides supervision and direction for support staff.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

  • Assists with directing, developing, and promoting academic outreach programs.
  • Participates in strategic planning and program assessment.
  • Assists with the management of departmental fiscal operations.
  • Provides supervision and direction for support staff.
  • Minimum Education/Experience

    Education:
    Master’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

    AND

    Experience:
    Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties.

    Substitution Statement: Related education and related experience may be substituted on a basis set forth by the Department of Human Resources.
