Serve as a mission-driven, innovative leader in program design, administration, data collection, financial planning, and projections. Lead program management and collaboration with key stakeholders to provide student-centered support as teachers and intentional community members dedicated to spiritual growth.
Introduction to Programs
Partners in Los Angeles Catholic Education (PLACE) Corps, is built upon three pillars: professional development, community living, and spiritual growth. Program members live in intentional faith-filled communities, serve as teachers in primarily under-resourced Catholic schools, and earn a teaching credential and master’s degree. PLACE is designed as an inclusive experience of shared fellowship, education, mentoring, and spiritual activities that build a strong supportive community.
Catholic Archdiocesan School Teachers (CAST) program provides an opportunity for current full-time K-12 teachers in Catholic schools to earn a teaching credential and master’s degree, through supportive coursework alongside fellow Catholic school teachers, that serves to enhance their ongoing teaching experience and which emphasizes the mission of Catholic education.
PLACE Corps and CAST programs embody the mission, vision, and core values of the School of Education, committed to fostering excellence in education inspired by the Marymount and Jesuit traditions of Catholic education.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Partner with all levels of program stakeholders in oversight, development, and implementation of long- and short-range fiscally responsible strategic goals in alignment with program mission, vision, and pillars to ensure continual growth, vitality, strength, and sustainability of PLACE Corps and CAST programs, maintaining an inclusive student-centered focus.
  • Collaborate with Center for Catholic Education and School of Education leadership in developing and carrying out long- and short-range strategic plan goals. In collaboration with Executive Director of Center for Catholic Education and LMU’s Development Department, serve to promote the program, strengthen donor relationships, and lead fundraising initiatives.
  • Review and refresh financial models, adapting to changing university, state, and federal regulations to ensure program fiscal responsibility. Manage high profile operating, grant, foundation, and scholarship budgets. Work collaboratively with SOE Business Services and Finance and LMU Development to ensure appropriate expenditure and reporting of funding in adherence with grant and SOE guidelines.
  • In collaboration with Department Chair, support academic program and course requirements align to meet evolving National and State K-12 policies, initiatives, teaching standards, and teacher-preparation program accreditation requirements. Work in partnership with academic advisor to support academic success of candidates in meeting degree and credential requirements.
  • Engage and utilize PLACE and CAST faculty/staff teams in supporting (Arch)Diocesan partnership needs as well as in student community building, resiliency training, and attention to concerns. Collaborate with, arrange for, and support PLACE/CAST teachers in education and faith formation. Foster team efforts in ensuring strong spiritual pillar based on principles of Ignatian spirituality across all areas of program and business processes. PLACE Corps: oversee and ensure meaningful mission-driven event planning and PLACER engagement, including engagement with and support of alumni.
  • Collaborate with School of Education Admission and Recruitment team in the evaluation and refreshing of recruitment, program application, and admission processes. Lead in the review of candidate applications, interviews, and program team agreement on acceptances. For PLACE Corps, working collaboratively with program staff team, using a student-centered approach, review school-site position openings, including site demographics, and align placements for best fit with candidate background, teaching subject matter expertise, and career/educational goals.
  • Collaborate with SOE Fieldwork Services to ensure ongoing and timely cross communication through a team approach to candidate fieldwork mentoring, communication with principals and On-Site Service Providers (candidate mentors) with a focus on candidate success. Ensure MOU’s are facilitated and completed in a timely manner for all applicable sites.
  • Oversee planning and facilitation of all activities for PLACE Corps and/or CAST activities, including, but not limited to, welcome activities and orientations, PLACE Corps Commissioning Mass, advisory board meetings, PLACE Corps retreats, alumni collaboration, and other holiday and graduation program events. Plan events to meet specific program goals/objectives/targets.
  • Serve as a resource to program candidates, working closely with academic advisors and academic program directors, in providing referrals and follow-up to available services on campus, including, but not limited to: Disability Student Services, Student Psychological Services, the Academic Resource Center, and SOE Student Success Team.
  • Foster innovative technology practices in business processes to streamline and strengthen student support.
  • In consultation with SOE and CCE leadership, engage Advisory/Alumni Council/Boards to meet evolving needs in Catholic education teacher professional development, classroom support, higher education programs, and Catholic K-12 education. Provide direction to Alumni Council/Boards as they develop and organize alumni events and alumni sponsored projects to support incoming candidates.
  • PLACE Corps: Ensure suitable community living environment, ensuring adherence to essential standards of living, established fire/life safety standards, and environs conducive to providing a candidate centered supportive focus on successful teaching, robust academics, and meaningful spiritual growth as dedicated and active community members.
  • Provide direction to evaluation and collection of data to align with program improvement and foundation/donor relation needs. Identify trends and collaborate with team to respond to data outcomes.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the programs, LMU and the SOE, promoting both programs throughout the LMU community, Los Angeles, all of the dioceses served, and on a national level, at meetings, workshops, conferences, etc. Actively participate in University Consortium for Catholic Education and other applicable organization events as requested.
  • Serve as an active member of the Center for Catholic Education, School of Education, and LMU, participating in meetings, trainings, workshops, and committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications

  • Typically a Master’s Degree in Education, Administration, Business, or related field or equivalent experience. Teaching or Administrative Services credential/certification highly desirable. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of accreditation, regulation, and policy changes at university, state, and national levels.
  • A combination of 5 years of teaching and administrative experience, preferably in a PK-12 Catholic urban school setting. Experience serving as a role model within (Arch)Diocesan and Catholic education communities. PLACE and CAST program alumni welcomed.
  • Experience with and embracement of technology and social media skills in leadership, instruction, and recruitment. Demonstrated understanding of traditional and emerging trends in classroom management, resiliency training, teacher formation, and career development. Proficiency in using technological advances to strengthen communication with wide diversity of stakeholders.
  • Thorough knowledge, understanding and lived commitment of the values, traditions, and mission of both the Catholic Church and Catholic Education. Knowledge of the work of (Arch)Diocesan administration in PK-12 education and familiarity with pressures facing both Catholic and under-resourced schools.
  • The ability to use statistical methods or formulas to identify, track, and analyze meaningful data to help in identifying trends and adjusting program operations.
  • Exemplary communication, organizational, team-building, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to attend frequent evening and weekend events. Reliable transportation necessary.
  • Position is considered primarily on-campus at LMU Westchester/Los Angeles campus.

Salary range

$66,560.00 – $87,776.00 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
