Join us.Job DescriptionWhat your new role will entail;Our thriving, multidisciplinary Water team in England and Wales are looking for an Associate Director to take a leading role within our growing team in the St Albans, Croydon, Basingstoke, Birmingham, Exeter, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield or Leeds offices. Our Water Team is involved in high profile, industry leading infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas and we are working on a variety of significant projects for Local and National Government, Water and Sewerage Authorities and other clients. This includes schemes at all stages of the design and construction process from feasibility, through design to operation, maintenance and asset management.Key responsibilities of the position include;

  • Providing technical leadership on projects or packages of work and being responsible for reviewing work produced by others to ensure timely and accurate results.
  • Leading designs in all stages including feasibility studies, outline designs, detailed designs, and preparing reports and technical specifications.
  • Lead efficient delivery of projects to meet programme and budget, and being accountable for risk management.
  • Lead on quality management and ensuring compliance of design with all applicable standards and regulations and provide technical expertise for interdisciplinary analytical studies.
  • Lead on work winning through bid management, tender production and preparation of proposals.
  • Contribute proactively to resourcing and management of the local and wider teams.
  • Undertaking line manager responsibilities for junior staff, providing guidance and management to them as well as completing performance evaluations for those assigned.
  • Supporting the development of junior members of the team, managing their input into projects and mentoring them (technical work and ICE).

Being part of the team;The Water team brings together the skills of project managers, hydrologists, water scientists, numerical modellers and civil, electrical, process and mechanical engineers. We do this to provide integrated, sustainable and cost-effective solutions. Our work ranges from high profile infrastructure schemes through to locally significant projects that make a real difference to communities. We work with Water Companies, the Environment Agency, Local Authorities and private clients in the UK and overseas. Our team works to imagine a better solution and to deliver it.You will be joining a dynamic local team of high performing civil engineers ranging in experience from apprentice to director level, within a larger national Water Engineering team. You will have the opportunity to mentor and direct junior members of the team through technical leadership, line management and supporting them within development training agreements.   • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification, or demonstratable equivalent experience.
  • Chartered with a relevant institution e.g. ICE, CIWEM.
  • A strong technical water sector background, including experience of delivering schemes for relevant clients and knowledge of relevant industry and UK wide codes and standards.
  • A strong desire to provide guidance, mentoring and technical advice to support junior staff, both on projects and to help progress their chartership journey.
