Position Description

Associate Director for Licensure will oversee all aspects of educator licensure programs at HGSE. This role is responsible for maintaining compliance with state licensure regulations, coordinating licensure operations, analyzing licensure data, and supporting students through the licensure process. This role reports to the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Student Services and is part of the unit’s leadership team.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain centralized systems for all HGSE licensure programs
  • Engage with faculty, administration, students, alumni, and partners to gather licensure data
  • Coordinate with degree programs to communicate and implement licensure policies
  • Analyze and report licensure data for compliance and program improvement
  • Supervise licensure staff including the Fieldwork Administrator and Program Coordinators
  • Stay updated on state licensure regulations and ensure HGSE program compliance
  • Communicate regulatory changes to stakeholders and collaborate on program modifications
  • Submit program approval requests and documentation to the state department of education
  • Maintain licensure data for candidate endorsement and program accreditation
  • Coordinate state program approval site visits
  • Attend national conferences to stay informed of regulatory shifts
  • Provide feedback to the state on licensure policies from an educator preparation perspective
  • Track program completer employment, retention, and evaluations
  • Establish an educator advisory board for continuous improvement
  • Participate in academic program meetings for student success initiatives
  • Verify candidate program completion for licensure or certification
  • Support students with licensure reciprocity in other states
  • Advise students considering licensure outside of HGSE programs

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Supervisory experience
  • Master’s degree in Education or relevant field preferred
  • Experience in state licensure and regulations compliance
  • Strong project management experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting using near vision use for reading and computer use for extended periods of time
  • Lifting (approximately 20 to 30 pounds), bending, and other physical exertion

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in an office setting

HGSE is currently developing dynamic workplace models which will actively support a combination of on-campus and remote work (within a state in which Harvard is registered to do business) where business and operational needs allow. You and your manager will discuss the best schedule based on your role and operational need. Work Format Details

This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
