Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, UCI Foundation, the Associate Director, Foundation Events will provide event, project, and programmatic support to the UCI Foundation team, the UCI Foundation Board, and the UAAR Vice Chancellor/President of the UCI Foundation and will serve as a liaison between UAAR staff and the UCIF Board. The Associate Director will manage high-visibility events involving the UCI Foundation, which is made up of highly influential members of the campus community. This management will include all aspects of the event planning process, from date selection and communication to post-event financial wrap-up. The Associate Director will also independently gather evaluate, and analyze data from a variety of sources, and will prepare detailed information and recommendations for a wide variety of high-profile events, 1 on 1 engagements, presentations, and meetings for UCIF. The Assistant Director will be expected to deal with policies, programs, and proposals that are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Follow standards of quality and excellence, ensuring events UCI’s mission and priorities, enhance reputation, and foster relationships with important internal and external audiences.

$81,900.00 – $128,000.00 (Annual Salary) Expected Pay Range within the Full Salary Range $81,900.00 – $150,500.00 (Annual Salary)

Required:
 

  • 5 to 10 years of direct experience in fundraising events, administration, or operations, especially as applied to higher education.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Advanced knowledge of the development industry, philanthropy concepts, and UCI Foundation, including its objectives and structure. 
  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills to build and maintain relationships at all organizational levels and with a variety of influential donors and community leaders. 
  • Highly developed political acumen skills and social perceptiveness to successfully meet the needs of guests and ensure guest satisfaction for fundraising events. 
  • Skill in effectively providing donor stewardship. 
  • Knowledge of concepts, principles and best practices of event planning and public relations, including design, organization and production of complex events. 
  • Knowledge and skills to apply event management principles, practices and techniques in support of effective event management, particularly high visibility, high impact, high risk events. 
  • Advanced judgment, decision-making and problem recognition / avoidance / resolution skills. 
  • Proven success in exercising sound independent judgment. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and act with tact and discretion with sensitive information. 
  • Advanced skill in meeting goals and objectives within budget and time constraints. 
  • Proven ability to view tasks from varying perspectives. 
  • Ability to integrate day-to-day operational knowledge and recommend effective short and long-term policies and procedures. 
  • Proven skills to apply principles of personnel management to plan, organize, and motivate staff and volunteers. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Ability to work effectively with volunteers, colleagues and senior administrators. 
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate and implement initiatives that deepen the level of understanding of and commitment to the institution. 
  • Ability to effectively manage complex situations involving multiple and sometimes competing constituencies

 

Preferred:

  • Advanced knowledge of the campus, including its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure. 
  • Experience developing accurate program budgets; ability to forecast expenses and income. 
  • Knowledge in effective contract negotiation and strategies.

 

Special Conditions Required:
 

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as required for events. 
  • May be required to drive on occasion in order to perform the routine or essential job responsibilities for the position
