JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State University is currently accepting applications for an Associate Director in the Morgan Academic Center for Student-Athletes. We are seeking a proven leader with 3-5 years supervisory experience. This position will oversee our football academic staff. A successful applicant will have extensive knowledge of all NCAA rules and regulations and conduct themselves with the highest level of integrity. The position will also serve as a critical counselor within the Morgan Academic Center team and on the MAC leadership team, assisting with strategic initiatives and overall department advancement.

Provide direct oversight to the football athletic academic team;

Manage an effective process of monitoring student-athlete academic progress, incorporating current best practices in the profession.

Serve as the advisorto a designated group of football student-athletes; monitor their academic progress, provide course advisement, and educate students on eligibility rules.

Regularly communicate progress and outcomes to the Directors of Learning Services and the Morgan Academic Center.

Partners with college advisers to assist students regarding university degree programs and requirements,academic standards, and general course selection.

Ensures student-athletes assigned are making progress towards their degree.

Monitors and checks schedules and records academic progress and grades for progress and eligibility compliance with Big Ten, NCAA, PSU, and college rules.
Educational/Certification Requirements:
-
Minimally requires a Master’s degree in education, counseling, sports management, or a related field and six years of experience in academic advising, preferably in a Division I collegiate athletics setting.

Strong understanding of NCAA academic eligibility requirements and compliance regulations.

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including coaches, faculty, and administrators.

Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive academic environment for student-athletes.
This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. It also requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$56,200.00 – $81,500.00
