Posting Context Statement The Associate Director of Development reports to the Senior Director of Development in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. This position is responsible for overseeing annual giving programs, coordinating college sponsorship activities, and facilitating stewardship of donors. This person will be a key member of the CALS Development team and works closely with the CALS Communications team while collaboratively aiming to achieve goals for the college.
Position Overview The Associate Director of Development is responsible for overseeing annual giving programs, alumni engagement and donor relations activities in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS). This person would be a key member of the CALS Development team and works closely with the CALS Communications team while collaboratively aiming to achieve goals for the college/unit.
Duties may include:

  • Managing annual giving programs
  • Coordinating college sponsorship activities
  • Growing and enhancing alumni engagement
  • Facilitating stewardship of donors,
  • Actively managing donor-funded scholarship logistics

Position Qualifications

Required Experience
  • Two years of experience in marketing, communications, fundraising, or other work experience which involves customer service and direct contact with clients, constituents, customers or prospective customers
  • Familiarity with database computer systems and applications
  • Experience working in an environment dependent on developing and maintaining relationships
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree; four years of additional experience (for a total of six) may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree.
Required Other
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to work nonstandard business hours which may include weekends and holidays
  • Must have valid driver’s license and ability to meet U of I driving requirements
Additional Preferred Experience in/with:

  • Volunteer boards and committees.
  • Working with corporations on partnerships or sponsorships.
  • Project management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Experience, education or working knowledge of the college’s disciplines.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of fundraising, preferably higher education.
  • Experience or education in one of the college’s disciples.
