Position Overview

  • The Associate Director of Foundation Relations provides support for all Office of Foundation Relations activities, including grant prospecting, proposal submissions, grant stewardship, and reporting. Emphasis is on grant activities generated from the Office of the President and grant opportunities supporting University strategic priorities of $1 million or more. This role will be responsible for the generation of a consistent number of proposal submissions and awards in support of Advancement fundraising targets as well as for effective project management for high-quality, on-time grant proposal and report submissions.

Responsibilities

  • Foster positive relationships with University leadership, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders, and actively and positively contribute to a trusting and collaborative culture.
  • Support University fundraising initiatives through the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of local and national foundations.
  • Support and develop grant proposals and other appropriate correspondence necessary to document new gifts and commitments from existing and new foundation partners.
  • Provide ongoing support to grant-funded project teams to ensure effective tracking and reporting of metrics and grant expenditures.
  • Manage calendar of deadlines, submissions, reports, and other relevant communications between University and foundation partners.
  • Perform other related duties as required and deemed appropriate to effectively accomplish responsibilities of position.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in higher education fundraising and/or grant writing for signature initiatives (or equivalent combination of related foundation, nonprofit or consulting experience.)
  • Highly organized, strong attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects to deadline.
  • Strong writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Successful grant writing experience
