Job Summary:

IIE is seeking a dynamic Associate Director, Philanthropy
Engagement and Communications. This role is on the Philanthropy
team which helps support, expand, and deepen the impact of IIE’s
programs, including our key signature initiatives: Emergency
Student Fund, Odyssey Scholarship, Scholar Rescue Fund, and the
Artist Protection Fund. We accomplish this by securing resources,
elevating our visibility, and communicating the impact of our
programs to supporters who are as passionate about our mission and
vision as we are.

The role will lead and implement a sustainable suite of
fundraising, communications, and engagement strategies which will
deepen relationships, cultivate a pipeline of supporters, and
increase donor acquisition and retention.

The Associate Director will focus on engaging primarily three
key donor segments: former IIE program participants, planned giving
society members, and annual fund donors, to establish meaningful
relationships that organically lead to a deeper connection,
cultivate a culture of philanthropy, and build a case for
support.

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy Engagement and
Communications, the Associate Director, Philanthropy Engagement and
Communications is a key member of a tight-knit, collaborative,
can-do team. We take the donor experience seriously and are
committed to grounding our fundraising in racial and social
justice.

Essential Functions:

Oversee and manage a donor engagement and communications
strategy that accomplishes deepened connectivity to IIE’s mission
and expanded philanthropic support across key donor segments.

Develop and implement community-building engagement tools
including in-person and virtual events, panel discussions,
briefings, and small group salon series.

Lead communications initiatives including drafting and
overseeing an annual planned giving fundraising campaign, our
year-end appeal, biannual e-newsletters, and IIE’s Grantee
Storybank for the purposes of engaging members and communicating a
case for support.

Write and execute fundraising campaigns directed to the three
key donor segments via direct mail, email, and social media.

Manage a small portfolio of annual fund donors, including
cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to renew and grow
support.

Collaborate across departments including Program teams,
Communications, the Office of the CEO, and external vendors to
maximize the impact of engagement and communications
strategies.

Partner with the Philanthropy Operations team to establish
quantitative and qualitative metrics to evaluate outcomes of
engagement activities and inform future program design, maximizing
efficiency and return on investment.

Guide the development of impactful content that leverages
multi-channel storytelling.

Assist in developing and implementing IIE’s overall fundraising
strategy, including setting Philanthropy Office goals and
objectives.

Partner with Director of Philanthropy Engagement and
Communications on the creation and implementation of the annual
donor engagement and communications plan.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:

Required Education and Work Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related experience or
an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience managing comprehensive engagement and communications
programs to advance an organization’s mission and achieve its
goals.

Demonstrated track record of successful event execution with
both large and small gatherings.

Knowledge of fundraising cycle and demonstrated understanding of
the value of community engagement in the expansion of donor
relationships.

Demonstrated ability to draft clear, compelling messages to
target audiences.

Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written
and oral) and the ability to listen, garner input, and gather
information across stakeholder groups.

A motivated, ambitious team player with exceptional
organizational skills, a positive, can-do attitude, and a growth
mindset.

Experience thriving in a fast-paced, complex work
environment.

Strong passion for and commitment to IIE’s mission to build a

Commitment to the highest standards of professionalism,

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

5-7 years of related experience preferred.

Experience working with email marketing platforms a plus.

Annual giving experience preferred.

Planned giving experience a plus.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Box, Fundraising CRMs
preferred.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary Range: $78,534 – $94,947

A candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including,
but not limited to, relevant work experience, job-related
knowledge, skills, abilities, internal organizational equity, and
geographic region.
