Associate Director, Reunion Giving – Tepper School of Business

The Tepper School of Business is searching for an Associate
Director of Reunion Giving. This is a dynamic opportunity for
someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work
environment. You will manage the school’s Reunion Giving program.
This includes setting overall strategy, direct solicitation,
solicitation management, volunteer training, proposing
class-specific goals, and obtaining volunteer input and
agreement.

You will also be responsible for identification, cultivation,
solicitation, and stewardship of assigned prospects with a focus on
securing leadership annual giving gifts and multi-year commitments
for the Tepper School. Portfolio will be primarily comprised of
alumni in a reunion year or just out of a reunion year. You will
conduct prospect meetings virtually and locally in the Pittsburgh
region. This position will also work with gift officers across the
Tepper School and university with reunion prospects to explore
major gift opportunities for the school. It is envisioned that half
of the responsibilities will be volunteer management related to
Reunion Giving and half will be prospect outreach and portfolio
management.

 

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive communication and
    solicitation plan for Reunion Giving program, working with
    supervisor and team

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for Reunion Giving
    campaigns and joint point of contact for Reunion Committees,
    partnering with the Associate Director of Alumni Events and
    Engagement. Manage and coordinate all assigned committee meetings
    and materials. Actively seek most promising candidates for these
    volunteer roles and provide appropriate recognition. Keep them
    engaged in university activities with the goal to increase annual
    giving and volunteer support for the fundraising plan.

  • Educate volunteers about the importance of giving and expendable
    support. Track progress against goals and makes recommendations to
    change tactics or resources assigned to various phases of the
    fundraising plan.

  • Setting annual goals for qualifications, cultivation moves,
    solicitations, gift closures and dollars raised according to
    standard University Advancement gift officer metrics. Tracking and
    reporting progress on goals; making periodic adjustments with
    supervisor as needed based on analysis.

  • Preparing and sending communications to prospects/donors, such
    as meeting requests, post-meeting follow-up, written proposals,
    agreements, stewardship updates, gift recognitions and engagement
    opportunities.

  • Managing and developing a portfolio of leadership annual giving
    prospects through virtual and in-person (Pittsburgh area only)
    visits, email, phone, or direct mail. Qualifying prospective donors
    by identifying capacity and inclination. Determining ongoing
    relationship activities with prospects. Recommending specific gift
    designations and levels of support. Identifying those to be
    involved in cultivation and solicitations. Soliciting multi-year
    leadership annual giving commitments. Bringing solicitations to
    closure.

  • Consistently tracking prospect outreach and relationship
    building efforts through each fundraising stage in T360 database.
    Producing individual contact reports summarizing each prospect
    interaction and meeting. Tracking progress of proposals of $10,000
    or greater.

  • In conjunction with department leadership and gift officers,
    explore opportunities for major gift commitments with individuals
    celebrating their reunion.

  • Keep current on programs and faculty, research, and student
    initiatives at the Tepper School and university. Network with
    faculty, deans, and other colleagues when necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience required; annual giving
    and/or development experience preferred

  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which
    comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Additional Information:

  • Work Posture: This position is operating on a
    hybrid schedule, with an on-campus/in office presence 3 days a
    week.

  • Typical Work Schedule: Monday-Friday from
    8:30am-5:00pm. Working during Reunion Weekend will be required, as
    well as a few evening hours most months for committee meetings.

  • Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must
    be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United
    States. CMU will not sponsor or take over sponsorship of an
