Summary

The primary purpose of the Associate Financial Analyst position is to assist in providing financial and business operations support for the General Accounting Division. As an important member of the General Accounting Division team, the Associate Financial Analyst provides assistance in monthly financial reconciliations, accruals, reporting, and identifying operational quality improvement opportunities. The analyst may routinely work with the Project Director, Finance and Sr. Financial Analyst on special projects.

Key Functions

Monthly Financial Analysis & Reporting:

· Supports Sr. Financial Analyst in monthly analysis, reconciliation and preparation of accrual entries.

· Reconcile monthly General Ledger accounts as assigned.

o Provide analysis on un-reconciled items and process corrections on a timely basis.

o Ensure correct chart field string assigned to all GL accounts reviewed and reconciled.

· Prepares monthly expense reconciliations for the General Accounting Division which involves:

o Preparing and submitting the Statistical Sample Review

o Maintaining reconciliation support files

· Use PeopleSoft Query Viewer and OBIEE to run monthly reports and analyze data for departmental accounts to identify trends and/or problems.

· Run requested ad-hoc reports as needed for the department/division.

Budget Activities:

· Provides support for and analysis of the divisional budget activities.

o Assist in creating templates and reports for use in budget preparation and forecasting processes.

Programs and Projects Support:

· Assists in Balance Sheet Reconciliation Reporting program.

· Support SPMC Finance Task Force data tracking and request response activity.

· Conduct and/or present any data analysis for the General Accounting Division projects or programs.

· Assist in the development of the financial and operational quality improvement opportunities.

· Participates and supports with General Accounting Division assigned projects or programs within designated timeframes.

· Works with the Project Director, Finance and Sr. Financial Analyst to make process improvement recommendations and corrections.

· Participates, supports, and coordinates any General Accounting Division assigned project or programs within designated timeframes.

· Cross-train with other department/division finance team members to provide back-up assistance when required.

· Provides other financial support as identified by the General Accounting Division leadership.

· Perform other tasks as assigned.

Education

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related business specialty.

Preferred: Master’s degree in business, health care administration, with an undergraduate degree in accounting or finance.

Experience

Required: No experience required. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one-to-one basis.

Preferred: Accounting degree, basic understanding of accrual accounting, healthcare experience, good Excel skills, strong communication skills, willingness to learn, detail oriented.

Work location: We are searching for candidates on the Houston area only.
