Summary of Duties:

To contribute to work with research teams and collaborators including data collection, data management, synthesis and communication.  Topic areas are varied but support improved sustainability across the Pacific Northwest’s diverse agricultural systems, including work relating to the climate footprint of dairy, recycling of organic materials through compost and biochar production, and regional water supply and demand.  Coordinate meetings with external partners and stakeholders, support data collection efforts, develop relationships, and respond to expressed needs. Develop and edit communications products that support reader understanding of current status of scientific knowledge and integrate technical research results.  Carry out literature reviews. Develop and edit content for project reporting, technical and scientific publications other materials; and extension products such as blog articles, social media, publications, and other formats.

Conduct literature reviews, analyze and apply related research work conducted by others to set the work in context and provide consultations as needed to resource managers and other stakeholders. Establish, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders; identify shared goals and collaborate to achieve desired impact; respond to stakeholders’ evolving expressed needs. Plan and engage in key stakeholder interactions through presentations and meetings as appropriate. Develop and edit varied communications products that support understanding of current status of scientific knowledge and integrate technical research results.

Coordinate meetings with external partners and stakeholders.  Coordinate internal team to successfully maintain progress and achieve desired project outcomes. Support project reporting and grants management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in a relevant field.
  • Quantitative analysis skills required; demonstrated ability to read and appropriately interpret a range of disciplinary literature required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate research results effectively verbally, in writing, and through other communications media.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member, work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively interact with peers, professionals, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on research, communications and extension related to water and/or resource recovery issues.
  • Record of publications, including journal articles, extension publications, and popular media.
  • Track record of successful grantsmanship and/or fund raising.

Annual Salary:

$48,000.00 – $54,000.00

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
