Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Department of Global Communications (DGC), Outreach Division (OD), Knowledge Solutions and Design Section (KSD). This Section specializes in web solutions, internal communications, branding and graphic design. It consists of three components: The Web Group, which provides web development and knowledge solutions for all OD sections; The UN Intranet-iSeek Team which provides internal communications service in English and French to UN staff through iSeek and information for Permanent Missions through Delegate; The Graphic Design Unit (GDU) which provides graphic design and branding solutions for United Nations global communications campaigns and publications. The incumbent reports to the Team Leader of The Web Group and to the Chief of KSD.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority and depending on location, the Associate Information Systems Officer may be responsible for the following duties: • Participates in preparing user requirements and other technical specifications. • Assists in the design and development of information systems, particularly multilingual web content management systems for both public-facing and internal-facing web sites and applications. • Undertakes rigorous testing and proving of web site and web application software. • Maintains assigned portions of web systems, providing operational support for system’s applications, analyzing and implementing system changes/upgrades, etc. • Participates in developing and maintaining Information Systems project plans, schedules, and budgets. Assists in identifying appropriate human and technical resources to complete the project, assists in assuring that deviations from project schedule are addressed and communicated, assists in developing timely project status reports, monitoring project risk factors, escalating project issues, and providing Quality Assurance for all project deliverables. • Ensures data security and integrity. • Prepares, updates and maintains system’s documentation and related technical/procedural manuals. • Participates in facilitating communications between OICT and its clients for good client relations and be responsible for small to medium client accounts.

A first-level university degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics or related field is required.

Work Experience
Two years of experience in managing multilingual web content management systems and stacks is required. Experience in managing internal and/or external client relationships in IT settings is desirable. Experience in designing, building and supporting web content management systems in Drupal 9 is desirable. Experience in managing vendor relationship for IT systems and services is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include a technical test which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
