About Us:

ACQUIS, an international law firm headquartered in Brussels, with a commitment to excellence and a focus on EU law, is looking for an Associate to support its EU regulatory practice. The ideal candidate has a solid background in EU law and a keen interest in the transport sector.

Responsibilities:

The EU Regulatory Associate will have a key role advising and assisting our clients in a wide range of EU law matters, including, but not limited to, transport and railway legislation, public procurement law, state aid, foreign subsidies, and competition law. The successful candidate will:

  • Advise and represent clients before the European Commission, EU courts, national or regional authorities, and regulatory bodies;
  • Collaborate with senior lawyers to provide strategic legal advice to clients, and be hands-on drafting legal documents, including public service contracts, conclusions, advisory opinions, internal trainings;
  • Assist client on public tenders including contract negotiations with public authorities;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of compliance advice for EU and international clients;
  • Monitor developments on EU regulations and update clients on potential impacts on their business.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Law degree and Master in EU Law;
  • Admission to the Bar in an EU member state (preferably in France or Spain);
  • + 3 years’ experience in EU regulatory;
  • Strong understanding and interest in EU regulatory affairs and policies;
  • Excellent research, analytical, and drafting skills;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently;
  • Prior experience in public procurement or the rail sector is a plus;
  • Language skills: Proficiency in English and French (Spanish is a plus).
