Role type: Part-time (0.6 FTE); Fixed term until 31st of December, 2024 
Faculty: Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences 
Department/School: Department of Rural Health, Melbourne Medical School 
Salary: Level A – $80,258 – $108,906 p.a. (pro rata for part-time) plus 17% super

About the Role

This is a remarkable opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Rural Health Placement Coordinator. You will have the chance to spearhead the development of innovative service-learning placements, fostering partnerships and promoting quality rural placement experiences for students studying nursing and allied health degrees. Based in Shepparton, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping the future of rural health education, providing invaluable support and guidance to students during their placements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitate rural service-learning placements in areas of need that meet the learning needs of students from diverse health disciplines and universities
  • Design, develop and deliver innovative models of and approaches to service-learning placements in areas with complex health needsEmploy evidence-based approaches to service learning
  • Develop strong partnerships with organisations in the local region who can offer service-learning opportunities

Who We Are Looking For

You thrive in collaborating with diverse  communities, valuing diversity and cultural competence. Your expertise in rural nursing and allied health, coupled with a knack for forging partnerships, drives impactful initiatives.

You will also have:

  • Qualification in a nursing or allied health discipline
  • Experience in nursing and/or allied health placements
  • Experience in student support, mentoring and/or one-on-one education
  • Demonstrated innovation in nursing and allied health education
  • Commitment to working in multidisciplinary settings and adopting interprofessional approaches

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn’t have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
