Organizational Setting

The Director General’s Office (DGO) provides leadership and coordination for all IAEA activities at the executive level for meeting Member States’ needs, and achieving a one-house approach and a results-based management.The Office for Public Information and Communication provides objective, accurate and timely information about the IAEA and nuclear developments that fosters public understanding of the IAEA’s global roles. It also provides advice to the Director General on relations with the media and organizes press briefings. The Office coordinates the communication activities for the rest of the house and assists in the media aspects of major IAEA events and conferences.The Media, Multimedia and Public Outreach Section has corporate responsibility for relations with the media and the public, as well as for producing audio and video materials to promote the IAEA’s activities.

Main Purpose

Under the supervision of the Head of the Media, Multimedia and Public Outreach Section, in close teamwork with the Multimedia Officer and in cooperation with other relevant staff in OPIC the Associate Multimedia Officer (Video) edit, films, writes scripts and produces videos on IAEA activities for distribution on various IAEA platforms, including the official web site and social media channels. He/she contributes to raising the profile and visibility of the IAEA, increasing public and media awareness about its work.

Role

The Associate Multimedia Officer (Video) is: (i) a video editor abreast of the latest technical evolution and equipment; (ii) a cameraman/camerawoman who films and collects footage to produce videos on IAEA activities; (iii) a video producer and script writer, who tells the IAEA stories in an effective and appealing way for different audiences; (iv) a technical video specialist who operates the IAEA studio.

Functions / Key Results Expected

• Contribute to identifying suitable topics for IAEA video stories and turning such ideas into film concepts.
• Produce high-quality and visually compelling videos, collect and edit footage from IAEA headquarters and the field; including quality sound recording and selection of suitable sound effects and final sound mix, and optimum lighting (by operating equipment and using advanced tools and software).
• Contribute to the effective production of films and their dissemination on IAEA and other relevant channels, for example by expanding and maintaining a digital archiving system for IAEA video films.
• Continuously identify and propose new technical innovations and solutions.

Qualifications, Experience and Language skills

  • University Degree in film/video production or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of relevant working experience in filming, editing, script writing and producing social media videos, preferably in any international environment.
  • Exposure to geopolitical and nuclear topics is an asset.
  • Proven ability to operate a video studio.
  • Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $50377 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 30579, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; Other benefits include 6 weeks’ annual leave, home leave travel, pension plan and health insurance. Appointment information

  • Appointment is subject to a satisfactory medical report.
  • Staff members may be assigned to any location.
  • Candidates appointed to posts in the Professional and higher categories are subject to IAEA rotation policy and their maximum tour of service shall normally be seven years.
