The Communication and Information Sector’s mission is to promote freedom of expression, media development and media literate societies, and to build knowledge societies through fostering universal access to information, innovation for sustainable development and the preservation of documentary heritage. (The role of this vacant position does not include responsibility for UNESCO”s wider external communications, which is managed by the Division for Communications and Public Engagement.)
Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information (ADG/CI), the close direct supervision and guidance of the Head of Office or a more senior staff if delegated by the Head of Office, and in close collaboration with and guidance from Professional CI Specialists in the Regional Bureau or Multisectoral Regional Office, the incumbent is responsible for providing support to the administrative and programme elements and components of Field Office projects, activities and initiatives. S/he will continually invest in professional learning in respect of programme development activities, project administration, trends and issues specific to the Field Office and broadening knowledge of other communication and information specialities and UNESCO Sectors represented in the Field Office and of relevance to the country served.

UNESCO’s salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan etc.
The approximate annual starting salary for this post is 236 510 ILS.
