Description of the position | The opening of this position is justified by the existence in the Babes-Bolyai University (BBU) of specializations at master and bachelor’s degree level that require specialists in the field. It is mandatory to covering, by a specialist, of the teaching activities (course) and seminar in the subjects of advanced physical chemistry (focused on oscillating reactions), electrochemistry, surface coating methods and corrosion and corrosion protection. The opened position aims to cover teaching and research activities having as educational objectives: 1. Acquisition, by chemistry and chemical engineering undergraduate and master students of skills regarding fundamental theoretical and practical notions in the field of electrochemistry, surface coating methods, corrosion and corrosion protection respectively oscillating reactions presented in the frame of advanced physical chemistry. 2. Acquirement of practical skills in electrochemistry and advanced physical-chemistry, to meet the specific requirements for their activity in laboratories or related industries. The position involves teaching activities (teaching courses and laboratory practical classes) with students enrolled in teaching Programs in the field of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at master and bachelor’s level in English and Hungarian, as well as carrying out research activities in the mentioned or related disciplines, as follows: 1. Advanced physical-chemistry 2. Electrochemistry 3. Surface coating methods 4. Corrosion and corrosion protection The candidate will have a doctorate in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (attested by a diploma) and a scientific performance in the field of electrochemistry, surface coating methods, corrosion and corrosion protection respectively in the frame of advanced physical-chemistry in oscillating reactions, related to that of the position for which he/she is applying. The candidate will fulfil the actual minimum conditions as described in the Methodology for occupying vacant teaching and research positions at Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca. The candidates for this vacancy must take into account the nature of the position as it is provided in the list of positions of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of the Hungarian Line, respectively assuming all activities related to the 3 dimensions (teaching, research, civic). |
Tasks | The opened position implies the following tasks and responsibilities, representing the basic teaching load (norm): A. Teaching activities according to those mentioned in the organizational chart of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of the Hungarian Line for the following subjects to be held in Hungarian : Advanced Physical-chemistry (course and lab, master level); Electrochemistry (course and lab, bachelor level) Surface coating methods, (course, bachelor level) Corrosion and corrosion protection (course, bachelor level);
B.Training activities: D. Other activities: a. taking part in department meetings as required by legislation (as well as meetings of the Faculty Board and the University Senate, according with owned quality), b writing documentation/reports/materials, according to the owned quality and at the requests of the head of the department or the dean, c. taking part to organizational activities, institutional management and administrative activities in the department, faculty, or university, according to the owned quality and the demands and opportunities of the institution. |

Methodology of examination | Candidates will be examined in alphabetical order on January 31th , 2024, starting from 10 a.m., respecting the same duration for all tests. Candidates will have a 5-minute break between examinations. Candidates’ competencies will be assessed based on an oral test and the assessment of the individual file, as follows:
Test 1: Public lecture Each candidate will give a public lecture lasting at least 30 min. and maximum 45 min. The subject of the public lecture will be chosen by each candidate from the themes for the public lecture, mentioned in this document. The public lecture will be held in Hungarian. The test must also contain a session of questions from the commission and/or the public of a maximum of 15 minutes. Each member of the examination commission will give a grade (two decimal) for Test 1: Public Lecture. The grading will be done in the interval 1-10 (9 points allocated for the evaluation of Test 1: Public lecture to which 1 point is added ex officio).
Test 2: Evaluation of candidate’s individual file Each member of the commission will analyze the professional achievements presented in the individual file of each candidate and will evaluate the scientific activity considering the professional activity (teaching, research, industrial), the quality of publications and candidates’ contributions in relation to the requirements of teaching or research job for which he/she is applying. For this test, each candidate will prepare a university career development plan. A grade for Test 2 will be assigned, in the interval 1-10 (9 points allocated for the evaluation of Test 2: Evaluation of the candidate’s individual file and presentation of the career plan, to which is added 1 point ex officio). Each member of the examination commission calculates the grade for each candidate as a weighted average (two decimals), the grade from Test 1 (accounting for 25%), and the grade from Test 2 (accounting for 75%). The final grade of each candidate will be calculated as the arithmetic average of the grades (with two decimals) gave by each member of the examination commission. In accordance with the Methodology for occupying vacant teaching and research positions at Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, approved by the Board Decision no. 21861/26.11.2018 and approved by the UBB Senate Decision no. 22338/3.12.2018, in order to be qualify for occupying the position, candidates must have obtained at each Test at least a grade of 6 (six), have a final grade of each member of examination commission of at least 7 (seven) and to obtain a final grade of at least 8.50. The hierarchy of candidates will be established in descending order of the final grades of the candidates. In case of equal final grades, the tie-breaking conditions will be made based on the grade from Test 2:Evaluation of the candidate’s individual file and presentation of the career plan. Based on the final grade of the competition (considering, if applicable, the tie-breaking conditions), the examination commission will establish the hierarchy of candidates and nominate the candidate with the best results, and after the vote of the commission will nominate the candidate who won the competition and will occupy the vacant position. The final grades of the competition and the hierarchy of candidates will be exhibited (on the notice board of the faculty and on the FCIC web site), immediately after the completion of the work of the commission (on the day of the competition). |
